Hot Carmel Apples in Slow Cooker

Continuing with the apple theme, I found this recipe for Hot Caramel Apples. I usually make these in the oven, but the crock pot version was just as good.

Ingredients:
4 large tart apples, cored (but not too the bottom. Just 2/3rds down or so.)
1/2 cup apple juice
8 Tbsp. brown sugar
12 (or more) red hot candies
1/4 cup butter or margarine
8 caramel candies, unwrapped
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon

Directions:
Peel about ¾- inch off the top of each apple. Put each apple in slow cooker.
Pour apple juice over apples. Fill the center of each apple with 2 Tbsp.
sugar, 3-5 red hot candies 1 Tbsp. butter and 2 caramels. sprinkle all with
cinnamon. Cover and cook on low 4-6 hours or until apples are tender. Serve
immediately with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream or both, if desired. Yield: 4 servings.
